Lenovo Idea Pad u310

The new Lenovo Ideapad U310 Ultrabook has gone on sale at John Lewis for £599.95, a price that includes free delivery, two year warranty and 90 days software support.

The laptop features a hard aluminium shell finish and is around 13mm thick. It comes with an Ivy-bridge-based Intel Core i3-2350M processor clocked at 1.4GHz with Intel HD Graphics 3000 onboard.

It comes with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, up to seven hours battery life, Ethernet port, 4GB RAM, a 13.3in 1,366 x 768 pixels resolution, two USB 2.0 and one USB 3.0 ports, webcam, Wi-Fi, a 500GB hard disk drive and a 32GB SSD system disk.

As expected it is powered by Windows 7 Home Premium and you can also get Windows 8 Pro for £15 when it launches later in the year.

As for most 13.3in Ultrabooks, the Lenovo U310 tips the balance at less than three pounds. Lenovo bundled it with Office 2010 starter, Windows Live Essentials, Google for Notebook, Veriface, Cyberlink, McAfee Emerald, You Cam, Lenovo EE boot optimising and Adobe reader.

It's worth noting that the U310 is one of many Ultrabooks that are available on the market for £600 or less. There are none currently under the £500 barrier and it is likely that this lower limit will be breached in the second half of 2012.
